Global trade of blankets and travelling rugs growing

The global trade of blankets and travelling rugs has been showing continuous rise with moderate CAGR of 5.54 per cent from 2016 to 2018. The global trade of blankets and travelling rugs was $10,313.07 million in 2016, which increased to $11,486.37 million in 2018. The total trade has risen by 1.88 per cent in 2018 over the previous year, according to data from TexPro.

The total trade of blankets and travelling rugs is anticipated to reach $13,530.37 million in 2021 with a CAGR of 5.54 per cent from 2018, according to Fibre2Fashion's market analysis tool TexPro.

The global exports of blankets and travelling rugs was $7,467.67 million in 2016, which increased by 9.05 per cent to $8,143.77 million in 2018. Total exports moved up by 0.30 per cent in 2018 over the previous year and is expected to reach $9,274.40 million in 2021 with a CAGR of 4.43 per cent from 2018.

The global imports of blankets and travelling rugs was $2,845.40 million in 2016, which jumped by 17.47 per cent to $3,342.60 million in 2018. Total exports rose by 5.95 per cent in 2018 over the previous year and is expected to reach $4,255.96 million in 2021 with a CAGR of 8.39 per cent from 2018.

China ($7,070.90 million) and India ($162.13 million) were the key exporters of blankets and travelling rugs across the globe in 2018, together comprising 88.82 per cent of total export. These were distantly followed by Germany ($74.44 million), Paraguay ($52.25 million), Turkey ($49.65 million) and Spain ($49.12 million).

From 2013 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of export, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by China (95.52 per cent) and India (9.37 per cent).

The US ($1,217.89 million), Japan ($234.78 million), Germany ($181.94 million) and the UK ($127.71 million) were the key importers of blankets and travelling rugs across the globe in 2018, together comprising 52.72 per cent of total import. These were followed by Canada ($114.60 million), France ($110.05 million), Brazil ($80.90 million) and Australia ($78.84 million).

From 2013 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of import, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by the US (41.15 per cent) and the UK (23.08 per cent).
